gs boot for DVD-R

I bought an AO-3 and use Prassi. should i select image or disc to disc to back up DVD?
heres the real problem........i have ps2 3001v4 and a mod that works fine with cd-rs and i have gs2 with the bubbles on the "loading" screen.I'm not sure which mod i have but its internal and i got it at modchip .com about a year ago. I cant find the right directions to boot the gameshark so that it will boot the dvd. i ve tried some methods but my ps and gs dont comprehend with the directions ive been getting.some say hoild in reset and so forth and some with red and green lights. it doesnt do the right thing. can someone help please?? thank you.

i was told it was a v4 because serial #starts W/ u4
