Warranty Sticker and a NON opening case mod

so.

am debating what to do. got a dvd-r and a bunch of time to kill.

1st, i know crackin the case and breaking the sticker will void the warranty. @ $300, feel like i am really rollin the dice.

anyone found away (or tried) to get the sticker of w. say, an exacto knife or such, and get the bastard back on there? or do u just cut it and hope all goes well w. the mod? any horror stories out there?

also, given the rapid progression of the technology, how far off the horizon is a non-intrusive, dont-gotta-crack-the-case mod?

just trying to determine if i should wait around, that shit hurt my wallet, and dont wanna dick it up and be stuck w, a $300 boat anchor.

had no prob w. the psx w. sodering the mod in there, but......

thoughts?

well you don`t have to wait untill there will be a mod chip which will play copies without opening the ps2. It is simple not possible. But there are modchips who are not that hard to install. The neo-usb and the neo 2.2 The first one needs 1 wire and the other 8 i thought.

solder

i got no problem connecting the wires, it is just the cracking of the case the gives me second thoughts.

anyone had any success w. getting the warranty sticker back on?

i was thinking about scanning it and making a new sticker, pretty good w. the ole photoshop, might be able to pull the wool over some knucklehead workin at best buy......

you can heat the sticker up with a hairdryer (make it REALLY hot) and pull it off carefully. if done right, it'll stay in one piece. you can put it back on and heat it up to stick it on again.

it is not sony that i am worried about.

i have the super duper extended warranty w, best buy, and that is who i would need to get around.....their warranty says that if even the controller dicks up, they will give me a new ps2.

so i doubt that the clerks there are that familiar with the sticker, as in if i put a fake one on there or such, esp since they sell so much stuff.
