Ps2 backup games on cds as good as the original??

How is it possible to copy the dvd games to cds on ps2. Is it that the sound quality is reduced , the movies are cut for running the game itself? has there any game yet released that is not been possible to backup it on a cd? in short are the cd backups as good as the originals?

no, of course they aren't.
in order to fit the up to 4.7 Gb to a 700 MB cd, ALOT has to be removed.. movies and music is sometimes removed completely, and some games need to be spread onto several cds, which means you have to swap at certain points (without getting a msg or anything.. the game will freeze if you didn't swap in time).

Most dvd's have some of the FMV's cut out or some have them rendered at a lower quality some have certian music cut out but some Are untouched and put onto it all depends on how much information is on the original dvd game and if the coder can be bothered to rip the whole game.

I have Project Eden and it seems they have included everything on 4 cd's but i have head hunter which is on 3 cd's and they have ripped the start up FMV

The other guys who have replied are spot on.
In my experience i've had one or two dvd to cdr rips (as there called) play so far and then stop.
This has been because when some of the data as been cut so it will fit on the cdr a vital link or neccessary piece of the game has been cut as well.
The problem is for the one doing the ripping he wouldn't know this untill he actually played the game right through to that point.
It might save you money buying or producing a dvd to cdr rip so if they work but it might not do so as well.

ARGO.
