I`m thinking of replacing my Ricoh 7083a rewriter and wondered which would be a good one to buy for backing up games, especially the SD2 titles.
I`ve managed to copy most things with the Ricoh and Clonecd but it was a struggle with Op Flashpoint although it finally did it. I`ve heard Philips and Plextor are pretty good, please feel free to pass on your opinions....cheers. |

I have a Plextor 24X - it does SD2 (except 2.51 - which you need to use another program called Betablocker to "fix"). It does all other protections except Tages and Starforce (which no cd-writer to my knowledge can copy).
The Lite On's will copy all SD2 (including 2.51). Won't copy Tages and Starforce cos as I said above no cd-writer can copy them These are the two main choices (Plextor and LiteOn). The only drawback with the Plex at the moment is SD2.51 but I am thinking and hoping that a firmware update from Plextor may fix this. BTW - Liteon is cheaper
