Help please!

Ok, so I'm brand new to the copy scene.......I'm trying to copy PlayStation games and I just need to know can I copy the game file for file and have the game work on a modded ps or will I have to add some other sort of file to the cd in the process of burning?

Also, if I need to, does this also apply to PlayStation2 games?
