trouble with SSX(pal I think)

I having a real hard time getting SSX to play in the PS2. I have a ver.3 PS2 with a 2.5 Neo. I can get the game to boot okay, but I have a few problems, first it's not in color, and second, when it goes to start the actual action game, it gets stuck at a black screen. I have patched it using the universal EA patcher, have used the NTSC patcher and the Paradox patcher as well, all the same result. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Just an update, I have the game working now, actually in game stuff working as well, but it's still in black and white, more of a dark blueish color, if any one has any ideas, thanks!
