Where to buy a PS2?

OK, I've got a v5, and have been debating whether to mod it or not. I decided not to.

Does it matter what version I have for playing games or dvds (the originals)?

If the version doesn't matter, are there any reliable places online that sell used or refurbished PS2s for well under $300 that would work fine for me (as long as I won't be modding). I could still return mine or sell it to a friend, and I don't see the point in having a v5 if I could get an older model cheaper. Thanks.
