Question how to find my version of my ps2

some one tell me how i find the version of my ps2. i bought the new external mod cube, and have two wires to solder in. i can't figure this out for the life of me, and i already opened it up, it doesn't look like either 1,2,3, or 4, and i don't know how to tell what version 5 looks like, so i tried to solder this wire in according to version4 cause it is quite close, i can't get the backup copies to load, is there something i am missing, and can't i just burn the patch of the game on my normal cd burn program? someone please help

It will be a v5 if the following is true upon removal of the plastic expansion bay cober at the reae and feeling along the top inside edge.

If there are three screws present, two surface mounted and one inset into a bracket, then it's a v5. Otherise its's a v4R.
