I dont quite understand how your 'origional' has become corrupt, so try uninstalling it from your machine & installing it on a friends & seeing if that workd, this will tell you if your 'Origional' is corrupt oh by the way do you mean the cd you brought is corrupt or your backup is corrupt? I recomend you download ClonyXXL to scan your CD and this program will tell you how to make a backup copy of it, by the way if you already have one backup you should destroy it as having more than one backup is breaking the EULA.

Thumbs down

I followed your steps and it still wasnt successful , ive tried cleaning it and running Adaptec's Scandisc Program........the cd is scatched up and even those 2 programs didnt fix it. I destoyed those 2 backup copies. So if the next idea is to buy a new copy then forget that idea. I dont trust internet money transfer. When you said that you dont understand how my original CD had become corrupt there is most likely a difference in our two CDs. So if you got anymore ideas than let me know......(I know what you meant by breaking the EULA.)

so if youre mad about me getting mad than im sorry
i shouldnt act that rude sorry man..........

As a last resort you can try cleaning the cd with toothpaste, Yes toothpaste, put some on a cloth and work your way round the cd, it sounds weird I know but it's worked for me.

I cleaned it with toothpaste and then tried it again and yet again it failed........then i took it to my friend who is a computer wiz and he even said it was a hopeless case that the cd was too badly damaged.........i think i should have had him examine it before i came here. ive tried to download patches but they dont work ethier...anyways i got it with my computer... 32 RAM soundblaster 16 56K Upgradeable win 98 full OEM ,4 GB Hard drive 32 CD-Rom 1280 x 1024 pixel max res 15 inch monitor , 32 bit max color ati rage II Videocard Pentium 166Mhz processor Gateway PC model PS-166 Monitor : Gateway Colorscan 500 series intelimouse (PS2) PS2 gateway multifunction keyboard Cannon BJC-250 bubblejet Printer

IF you really like the game then as a last resort try e-mailing EA and ask them if they can do you a deal since you own the origional they'll usually send you out another CD for about £2.50

You don't necessarily need to order your replacement CD's online, you can just call EA

'Packer' if the game was protected it wouldn't matter, the fact is he's corrupted his cd.
