Playing Imports On PSone

I'm having trouble playing back-up imports on my (uk) psone. i can play uk back ups with no problems but the imports just wont load. Is this to do with the mod chip i have? or is it just psone.
The copies work fine on my friends chipped (UK) psx!

Please help a newbie to psone back-ups

thanx

The PS-One has a uni region bios, meaning that it will only run games from the same region i.e. UK PAL, NTSC etc. (a bit like a DVD player).

The original PSX consols had a multi region bios so they will recognise games from different geographical regions.

There are a few ways in which you can get around this problem with the PS-One....

1. The PS-One import player boot disc. (probably the easyest way round it but not the best, this will still give you problems with booting multi disc titles.)

2. Get a new mod chip installed. (recommended - its the same chip just programmed with a newer version hex file.)

3. Change the bios chip over with one from an older PSX consol. (OK so this will get round it but is not recommended as you could seriously screw up your PS-One. You need an old duff PSX so you can swap the bios chip over to the PS-One.)

4. You could try backing up and patching every import game you have.

I'd plump for option 2 as it's safer, less hassel, more reliable and once its done it can be forgotten about.

Hope this helps.
