Angry The Sims Hot Date Trouble

I have two computers:

1 Celeron 300A, Abit BH-6, Elsa Erazor TNT2 and a Sounblaster AWE64.

Sims, with or without the exp. packs, always crashes on this computer. I can build and buy things for the house, but when I start playing, it hangs! I have tried some different graphic drivers but it's still the same problem. I have DirectX8.

2 AMD 1.4GHz, Abit KG7?, GeForce2 MX400, Sounblaster Live 5.1.

Sims with, Living Large and/or HouseParty, works perfect! But when I installed Hot Date, It worked for about 30min then the music got choppy and then it hanged. I restart the computer and try to restart The Sims. After the red screen with the rolling text, It goes out into Windows and can't be restarted. I have DirectX 8, the latest Nvidia Driver.

Both machines are running Windows ME

Your second puter sounds the same as mine apart from the soundcard, mines onboard. I have the Sims and all expansion packs and they all work fine (all original).

The only thing that comes to mind when reading your problem is that you may have another program running in the background.

Or they are copies? If so then it's probably down to Safedisc2 protection which is on Hotdate.

I have read other posts saying that Hotdate has a later version of SD2 protection so no one has a working copy yet.

I have made a backup of other games that let you install them but when it comes to playing them it asks for the CD. Could be that kind of thing.

A Program called "Playbackup" may help, available from GameCopyWorld.com.

Why is it blacklisted?!

I have tried to install different video drivers, I have turned off everything except Explorer ans systray, but it doesn't work!!!

It is a copy from my original, and i manage to start it with a fixed exe-file. I have tried to reinstall HotDate but the problem remains.

I uninstalled everything, re-installed Sims and House Party, and it works, but not Hot Date.

I guess I have dissapoint my brother and take the original back!! Damn protection!

I know its really boring question but does the orignal work properly when installed?

If so then its more than likely to be the SD2 protection. Like I said earlier there appears to be several versions of this protection.

It lets you copy and install the game but the CD has problems when booting up. How you managed to get 30 minutes of gameplay is surprising.

I guess a genius is required to sort out the later version of the protection.
