Arcanum is driving me INSANE (insane? dont mind if I do!)

Right, so here I am trying to get the backupped arcanum to work, but!!! Lo and Behold!
After several tries (hate my modem) I get some cracks down (from this site and another i cant remember), and also and update to 1.0.70 (or something very close to it)... btw the crack WAS for the right version.
But, altough I can see the Sierra movie, the movie where some guy is pulling a large lever, and a screen that says "Loading arcanum" with a train in the background, thats it.
½ a second after the train/loading picture it returns to windows.
Any thoughts?

How weird?I cracked my copy long ago and updated to 1070.I used a older crack on this site,not sure which and it worked fine for 1070.This is one of the best RPG's I have played!I think better than the Baldurs Gate titles!
