Commandos 2 Invisible Menu!!!

I have got Commandos 2 working, but when the main screen appears (with the swaying palm trees), there is no menu displayed!! When I get the game going after some random clicking, it resets back to the main screen when the 'level loading' screen is displayed. Any ideas? Help!!!!
