NEED NO-CD for Pool of Radiance Please!

I will assume you have a FIXED EXE, so do a FULL INSTALL!

Copy data2.tag from CD2 into the same directory as the Pool II.exe

Then simply edit the registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\stormfront studios\pool of radiance 2

and modify the InstallSource string to read .\ (that's a FULL STOP and a BACK SLASH)

Now play the game with No CD!

You could also find E8 4F 0E 15 00 in the dumped EXE and nop em' out, or so my budgie tells me

Yea...I did that copy to the game folder and registry edit...and it didnt work...........=/

Kwahn, I don't know what you're doing wrong but it works for me! So, I uninstalled and re-installed it, MAXIMUM install, dumped the exe and ran it, asks for Disc 2! Did the file copy/registry edit as stated, it works! Here's my registry after editing:

If you installed to same directory as me you can cut & paste the above and import it, otherwise you'll have to edit the InstallDir string, then do the file copy!

It only works with a MAXIMUM install as well! Alternatively, try hexediting out the bytes instead, either way works on my copy!

I got a good news for you.... i find a similar to a crack but its not a crack ! you only need to copy that files on the folder you have install Pool of radiance. The files to replace his por2Main.exe.
if there someone that can provide me with a space where i can upload the files.....

If you are replacing the por2Main.exe with another one that lets you play with No CD, it must have had the CD Check removed, so it IS cracked!

Checked the ftp site...no dice. Could you post a link to the Cracked exe that allows you to play w/o the CD? I can't do the REGedit because I no longer have the CDs. Thanks in advance.

OK, forgive me for being stupid. I don't claim to be a genius when it comes to this stuff but I get by....

I copied that dat2 file over to the game directory, then ran regedit and set up the registry to reflect what you show above...and no dice, maybe i am missing something...what did you mean when you said you dumped the exe file?

I just went back and redid it all from scratch...it still don't work, now I am not only pissed cuz i cant get it to work without cd2 but now I am pissed for being a dumbazz to boot....=( I am a failure. someone put me out of my misery please

If you guys want a no-cd patch for your game then follow the instructions and I'll be happy to make you one.

1. I need the game.exe file plus any files required at the start, before the cd check. So, make a copy of your game.exe file in another directory and call it por2main.exe.bak (i asume that the original is called por2main.exe !!)
2. Run this file, and note which files it says are missing (things like windows.dll etc).
3. Now copy these files to your other folder, and keep running the game.exe until the "insert cd" window appears.
4. Now you can zip/rar/ace these files together and send them to my mail..... crispeater**********com
5. Give me a short while, and I'll return a patch for you to apply.

(I only need the other files to test the patch)
Sounds complicated, but it isn't.

This works for a No CD If you have unsafedisc + a hex editor, you can make your own No CD!!
