Copy works on writer but not dvd drive

I have a scsi Plexor 412 writer and a pioneer
dvd-104 ide reader. When I use clone cd to copy a sd2 game it will run from the plextor but not on the pioneer drive. Give a tmp file error?.

What features are needed on the reader for copys too work.

Dont know if this info help's (I've never had identical hardware to you), But i used to have a creative labs DVD , And it hated reading Gold + Blue copy cd's i'd created, But was fine with commercial cd,s, Sometime's you can patch the firmware of your DVD rom drive, But be warned- Its not for the squeemish, I did it on my prized panasonic 12x40 speed dvd and knackered it
This drive never had any probs. with CDR/CDRW disks,
There are a number of good web sites to obtain such patches,
