Diablo 2 1.09 Lan/BNet

I installed the 1.09 patch and replaced the game.exe file with the one from the ace file, but I can't log on to BNet or run a lan game with my roommates. Are there aditional steps needed to allow me to host lan games. BNet would be nice but lan games are more important.
