** you to can burn max payne **

I burned a perfect 1:1 copy of max payne using clonecd 2.8.3.1 and a phillps 8x4x32 burner.
Fast Error Skip Checked (with retry set at 5)
read at max
burn at max
media was a memorex 80min 700 meg disk
and a 80min 700 meg imation
no delayed seek times or install.
and works fine with the 1.1 patch
also did this with a ACER 1032a with the same settings...
hope this helps anyone with problems

I'm not new at copying, but am new to as what counts as a burn. Does it have to recognize the copied CD to count? Because I copied it the day I got it with the exact same burner you have and it copied fine, just the game didn't recognize the CD. The backup installed fine on my computer at work and I just used the fixed .exe from this site.

I used Nero 5.0.3.8 BTW.

What is the exact model of your burner??
Most Phillips burners can handle SD2 on Max Payne, as can the Acer. Those who haven't got your hardware cannot make a copy which works in most drives.
sorry to piss on your parade but you've not achieved anything out of the ordinary or unexpected, mate.

crispy, i know this. But if you have read other posts you will see that Max payne is suppose to have a better version of safedisk2 on it so some people were having problems i have seen a few people with the same burners as me not be able to burn this game but have burned many other SD2 games. In fact i didnt see one post saying anyone had burned the game with success. the way i fixed it was by downgrading my clone cd software from 3. something to 2.8 i just made coasters with version 3. I wasnt trying to say hey look everyone i burned something no one else can i was passing on what i did to help anyone with problems....

perfect burn is when the game installs and plays in any computer.
no fixed exe's and no daemon tools, any thing of that sort!

that is what i understand as a perfect burn!

Wasn't having a dig mate, sorry if it seemed that way.
Anyway, to my knowledge, the newer versions of SD2 are just encrypted differently to stop unpacking and have some progs blacklisted.
I myself have copied a good 1:1 cd with my Plex. Granted it only works in the Plex but I was expecting that.
I honestly believe that most peeps have probs cos of blacklisted software on their PCs, not because of a different bit pattern on these weak sectors. I have seen posted elsewhere (can't remember where, though) that the new sd2 bit patterns are identical to the previous versions.

I'll check this out asap and let you know.

But with the latest SD2 version (and most likely all future versions), it checks ATIP info so it won't work in any burner. Just CDROMS and DVDs. So only 'older' SD2 titles will continue to work in your Plex...
