Why Playbackup won't work on safedisc2 games ANY MORE?

It worked fine on undying. Then no luck with Max payne or MAdden 2002. Is there a reason why Playbackup would work on one copy but not another ? Safedisc2 is safedisc2 no matter what game it's on, right? Max Payne had the fixed exe file, but there is nothing for madden yet. If I am posting this in the wrong place, please let me know. Thanks a lot.

Yes, itīs Playback, Insektors and older Daemon (<2.79) versions are blacklisted by SafeDisc V2.40.x!

Wrong! See above ...

Donīt use Playback & Insektors anymore! Get the Daemon from http://www.daemon-tools.com ... read the instructions about the fast dump feature, create an image using Daemonīs fast dump, write the image to cd-r and play with enabled SafeDisc emulation ...
have fun, enjoy ...

Except that the backup didn't work with Daemon tools either. I made the image, mounted it and no go.

For sure it works!
Be sure to use the newest Daemon, to run the game from the drive you installed it from, and tell me which software you used to create the image ...

I'm using Dtools ver. 2.80. I ran it from the same drive and I used clonecd. I made the image file. But then I used the Patch Image program that comes with playbackup to "patch" the image. Then I undid the patch and revertted the image back to its original state. I also copied the image to two seperate cdr's. One has the patched image from playbackup and one is unpatched. Neither work. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

You MUST NOT have Playback installed!!! It WONīT work with Playback installed, īcause Playback is blacklisted! It wonīt work with Insektors installed either!
Itīll work from Daemonīs Phantom drive with either normally or fast dumped image, if you want to write the image to cd-r and donīt have a writer being able to write SD2 perfectly use the fast dump and play with enabled SafeDisc emulation (be sure to set the Elby CDIO Control to WinASPI in Win9x/ME -> icon in CloneCD program group).

I don't have any of those installed. What does setting it to Win APi do? By the way, when I mount it to to D tool's virtual drive the game acts like it is going to start then I get a message madden2002 caused an error in ~df394b.tmp.

Daemonīs fast dump feature works with ASPI layer based software only - thatīs why you have to set CloneCD to WinASPI if you want to use fast dump in Win9x/ME.
If you get the error you described even from phantom your image is bad, try to redump using fast dump - itīll work for sure!
