Please insert original CD!!

I used the newest patch for Age of Empires 2 so that I could run the game from my HDD rather than the CD (an original, not pirate) for the sake of speed, etc.

Other games that I have that I prefer to run from the original CD (Delta Force LW, Deus Ex) now ask me to insert the original CD, even though it is there in the CD Drive.

Is there a way to reverse the effects of the AOE 2 patch? Have you seen this before?

This is the first and only game I have tried setting up to run from my HDD, and the patch was legit. as I got it from GCW here.
