Robsoft Diablo 2 1.06 .exe fix doesn't work?

DX 8.0a
Diablo 2 North American version

The game.exe file that comes with the Diablo 2 1.06 crack by Robsoft is not a valid win32 application. When it is copied to the game directory, the game cannot find the game.exe file.

Has anybody had luck getting 1.06 to run with the above specifications? The 1.05b patch worked fine.
