For all those who want to backup B&W

How to backup B&W.
These are for all those annoying questions about copying the B&W cd. (These can also be used with almost any cd l guess)

Well l did the following to backup B&W, and l do have to say it`s a good one.
First of all: you need this:
blindread 3.1 (Not the blindwrite suite)
Nero
Isobuster
The crack from gamecopyworld.
First of all, use blindread to make a iso image. Select nibble image. It will say 26 bad sectors or something like that. After that you have a big iso file. Now we have to unpack the iso so we can add the crack to the cd. Use isobuster to do this.
After you have done that, you have the whole directory of B&W and you can burn it with nero, and you can add the crack to the cd...it worked fine for me.

BOT is on a distinguished road
What a load of crap!
All you need to do is use Windows Explorer to copy all the contents of the cd to a temp directory.
To that add a directory containing the crack and just burn the contents of the temp directory back to cd.

Bot-CK is right it is that simple, or you can justmke a copy with Clonecd and then patch the game!, if your burner can't make a perfect back up of SD2

No way man, the original cd is oversized, and my explorer told me a error occured, so I did this MY way, and it worked perfectly! So I think this is the best way to back it up, especcially if ya want to make sure you don`t f*ck up a cdr. l`m sick and tired of those people telling me it`s simple that they can copy it this and that. I just wanted to give the people some information, and I am convinced this is the best way....btw i`ve got a HP 7500 + 2x writer....so it`s crap....but they WORK GODDAMNIT....(peace)

Your way may have worked, but its a little long winded. As bot says, all you have to do drag the contents of the Bnw cd into an empty folder and burn using nero or whatever. Replace runblack.exe with the cracked one from GCW - simple. Worked for me in about 10 mins with a 10 speed burner.

Could a newbie ask a dumb question? Please don't flame me!

I read the description for the cd-copy crack on GCW posted on the 8th of April. I don't completely understand the following step:

Burn the contents of TempDir to a CD-R and use the same CD-Label as the original CD.

Exactly how do I do this with a 121032 Plex?

CloneCD? What options? I guess I don't know how to burn a non-image file...

Any help GREATLY appreciated!

Why not BACKUP this game the EASY and PERFECTLY WORKING ?

1. Copy ALL files from the CD to C:\temp\bnw
2. Download NERO Buringrom and the NO-CD crack from GCW.
3. Move the no-cd crack to c:\temp\bnw\crack\
4. Start NERO and label the new ISO cd to "BNW" and drag-and-drop the files in c:\temp\bnw\ to the cd.
5. BURN IT! The us/uk no-cd crack worked perfectly for my Swedish version of the game. //Greetz icecold, [email protected]

well guys, i've been burning stuff for a while and this is the first one i have had problems with, the gcw crack aint available so i tried to use clonecd on my plex121032 BUT after about 1.5 hours of reading the disk burns with no error correction enabled, but the game runs to the splash screen then dies, this is the first proggy i've found that clonecd will not copy, if i had the crack i would blind read normally or just copy the contents to temp and burn, but seeing as the crack seems to have dried up that aint an option, astalavista has only one link to the crack but that happens to be the gcw site, any ideas where to get the crack?

i got clonecd cos i got hacked off spending my entire life downing cracks and messing with conveluted ways to make a copy, guess i've got lazy in my old age !!!! LOL hope some one posts a location for the crack?

TD

Hi guys. I have tryied to make a backup of B&W and i messed up. I did excactly what GCW says. The version is UK and I did the following. I copied everything, hidden files and all, into a directory which I will call "temp". I then extracted the contents of the "patch archive" into "/temp", what the archive contains is "bnw_uk.bat" and "cdcopy.txt", its the small .rar file just under the "Black & White v1.0 [ENGLISH] CD-Copy/Fixed EXE" heading. Then it says, extract the contents of "Executable Archive" into the temp dir. And so I did, I extracted the .rar file, size 1.8, into "/temp", the "Executable Archive" contains an excecutable by the name of "runblack.exe". Then I have to "Extract the I6COMP.EXE from the I6Comp v0.2 archive to TempDir.", and I extracted the whole .zip file I found here, on CGW, into "/temp". The file is called "i6comp02.zip" and contains several files in it. I extracted them all. Anyway, it then says, "Execute BNW_UK.BAT from the TempDir to replace the game executable in the installation files." and when i did that I got numerous error messages, most of them were "file not found" when the .bat file was trying to delete files. (I really think this is not a problem since the .bat 's job is really to delete files that would be burned with the rest into a blank cd, which could be rather unpleasant.) I BURNED the contents of the directory, not the directory itself though, into the cd. Now when i try to load the game, files load from the cd, and after a while i get an error message which reads something like "Cannot locate the CD-ROM, please insert th correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application."
First i want to apologise for writting you guys so much, I even wrote things that are pretty much granted to me, and to most people. But i wanted to be as describing as possible. I really think I missed a thing and done something wrong during the whole procedure. I would hate to start burning "test cd's" and then throw them away, i am pretty sure that some of you hate that too. Anyway, i would REAlLY appreciate any help, please. BtW i have the original copy of the game, the version, as said above, is UK. And I am following the Uk "cd-copy/fixed exe" thing. I want to make a backup, no "no-cd" cracks or something. Thanx for any help.

I dont understand why everyone needs a PERFECT copy of the game..? (ITs 100% impossible to make an EXACT copy of a cd-r for god sake..)

And the the files in the cd-copy(Executable Archive, I6Comp v0.2) is just adding problems for ppl. why not USE the NO-CD(fixed .exe) and then you wont have any problems ? *doh*

And can someone add that the "Swedish version" of the game can be CD-COPY exactly the same way that the UK and with the same patches ? :P

yeah my typing sux.

For DooMsDay:

(1) ONLY extract the I6COMP.EXE to the temp dir, not all the files from the archive.

(2) running the BNW_UK.EXE should take a while - a few minutes on my Celeron 466 - if it doesn't that's a sign you've done something wrong. It's normal for the process to finish with error messages in the DOS window, ignore them.

(3) make sure when you burn the CD that it's volume name is "BNW" - all in upper case.

Good luck.
