"Can a Burner be DEAD if it READS but not WRITES?"
Guys...I had a Smart & Friendly CDR 8x write /20x read 8020 Rocket Se from Comp USA I bought about a year ago It has a 2mg buffer and it is a SCSI 2 drive....Does anyone know who is the true manufacturer of this drive???
Also if you cant answer that question, can someone help me with this?....I have had it running great for the last year with no issues at all running the included Easy CD Creater 3.5 software but since I installed some more advanced CD burning software like Blind Read/Write, NERO, CLone CD and I upgraded the ASPI driver using FORCEASPI, My drive has been clunking out. It now will no longer write ....it only reads and plays CDs but when i try to write with ANY of my burning software programs, it will constantly error on the TEST runs. I tried randomly removing and reinstalling the software programs and I even tried removing my SCI card drivers from the Control Panel and reinstalling....is there anything else I should try or recommend to point me in the right direction?.....Can a Burner be dead if it can read fine but not write???....Is this normal?? |

You may have to do a complete re install starting with format c:
I suggest you only install the ONE burning software you wish to use and then try it. |

Hi,
but before you format your hdd, try to install the newest Adaptec ASPI drivers + ASPICheck maybe that could help and solve the prob. Else you should really start with format c: and reinstall your system plus on burning prog Or two, but leave out the fu...... Adaptec Easy CDCreep away
