Red Alert 2 Backup Question "Newbie"
I have followed the the directions from Gamecopy for the cd copy and I followed it and I found out about once you save all your files to the hard drive I read that you have to remove the read only check out so the patch can be applied. I did that I think the patch took ok it said once I applied the patch it said to now go burn the disk, and thats what I did.
I burned a copy on clonecd and I used the settings (Fast Error Skip) and (Don't report read errors) that was in the Read Tab and in the Write Tab I used (Don't repair sub channel data) and (Perform laser power calibration) and (Always close last session) that was the settings that I had and I did a 1x write. I then burned it and it said after it was done that it burn fine. So then I tried then to install the game and it tried to it put a very small square in the middle of the screen like the original does when you are install it, but it sounds like the disk is trying to do something and it never does, I never get a message or anything it just keeps running like its going to install and the little square is in the middle of the screen. I'm very new at this actually this ismy first time trying it. But I have been reading in this forum for a month getting bits and pieces before I tried it thinking that this would help before I started writing stupid question. I don't know if the settings were wrong or not any help on this I would greatly apprecate thanks.

RUBBISH!
You did NOT follow the instructions at all! If you had you would not have used CloneCD! CloneCD cannot do what you were told to do! |

Follow these instuctions and you are laughing:
1. Copy all the contents of the allied cd to c:\windows\temp\cd. You will have to create this directory 2. Next unzip the file ra2_allied_crack to the directory (c:\windows\temp\cd) You can download this file at the GCW website. Its one of the two copy cd files. (One is allied the other is soviet) 3. Go to the temp directory: c:\windows\temp\cd then open the setup folder. Click on the crack_allied.bat file. This will run the crack. You will get a message saying: Access denied Duplicate file name or file in use Please delete crack_allied.bat and burn the CD with the label: RA1 Close the window and delete crack_allied.bat. You can also delete the instructions.txt file in the c:\windows\temp\cd directory for you will no longer need these files 4. Bun the contents of the c:\windows\temp\cd directory to the cd and MAKE SURE you change the label of the cd to RA1. When done delete the cd folder 5. After the cd is burned repeat steps 1-4 with the soviet cd this time using the crack_soviet.bat you downloaded from GCW. 6. After both cd’s are burned you can use either to install the game. I used the allied. a) Put the allied cd into the cd rom. If autoplay pops up, just close it you can’t install it from there b) Open windows explorer, open your cd rom drive, (it will have the label RA1 if you burned it properly) c) Then open the setup folder and run the file setup_allied d) Installation will continue as normal from here. After the installation, go back to explorer, open the crack folder on your cd and copy the RA2.exe file to your Red Alert 2 directory on your hard drive e) The game should run normally Good luck Credit for these instruction go to “somecrazyguy” PS I use Nero |
