Will copying a game to my harddrive and burning it work?

Whenever I use clone cd to copy and burn something it will copy an image file and i can burn it to a cdr fine, but when i run setup from the backup something always goes wrong. Like on Elite Force I get a "data=-117" error while 93% of the game as already installed and when i tried to load crimson skies it was missing 1 file because it apparently didn't burn correctly and that screwed up my entire setup. Does anyone know why my games aren't burning perfectly? One person told me to just copy all the contents of a cd to my harddrive and then burn those contents to a cdr and just go get a crack for the game and it should work fine. Will this process actually work?

yeS THAT shuold work but for the games not copying properly,are you shure you writer and reader is compatible with clone and whatsettingsdoyou use,. I have backedup Crimson Skieswith noproblem using these settings, when reading:

just fasterror skip ticked

when burning:

just tick always close lasts session.
