IS MY WRITER ANY GOOD I GOT IT CHEAP?

Im new to this backup game stuff, I have a Sony CRX140E-RP can anyone tell me if this is any good and is it compatable with CloneCD, I have read it is but a bloke i know says it isn't and also what is firmware?

Yes i have it it works great i have made working backups of every game EXCEPT THOSE WITH sAFEDISC 2 PROTECTION ON THEM. But there are only 8 or 7 games with that on so it is nice drive!!

I would like to know if there are any firmware updates yet?
i stil using the ones that i got with the cd writer? Thanks

yeah updated my firmware to 1.0p about 4 months ago. No problems yet,apart from SD2. I heard they maybe a new prog that can beat it, coming out sometime this week.
