wich is your directx verion?...
there are problems with directx 8 version, so if that's your case that can be the problem.
The problem is that you can't uninstall directx so the only solution is to reinstall windows  damm microsoft.But if it's not your case what is the problem you have?, your game crash or it just don't recognize the cd?.
