cdrwin help with syphon filter backup

this is my first attempt at backing up one of my games. it is syphon filter. i have a LG CED 8081B cdrw. i ysed cdrwin to give a try. the game is copied to the image fine, but when i repace the game disc with the blank disc i get this error "Error: 'READ TOC' command failed on device 0:1:0 illegal command request (04h 00h 02h 05h 24h 00h)"
has anyone ever seen this and what do i do?

it sounds like the original disk may be damaged or scratched try getting another source disk or try clonecd and read and write at 1x or 2x,
