Sub-code problem

Can you please help, problem with buring PSX games using any kind of software. I have a HP 9500 writer and I have being trying to use Nero 5 and clonecd. The burn says successful and the same information is on the burned disk as original source disk.
But when trying to load cd on playstation with mod chip I only get as far as the white Playstation screen.
I have saved copy of log using Nero and information states that drive is unable to read subcode ?? does this sound correct

Please let me know your comments ?? much appreciated

Nero can't copy sub channel data. Use CloneCD, and "load" "ProtCD.ccp" from the read configuration page. This should check off:
-Read Subchannel Data from Data Tracks
-Read Subchannel Data from Audio Tracks
-Fast Error Skip
-Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner

when you go to burn the CD,
load the same file "ProtCD.ccp" from the write configuration screen. and make sure you check
-Don't repair subchannel data
and write mode should be RAW DAO
This setup works for me. Hope this helps

those are the WRONG settings for cd clone
these are the RIGHT settings (only works with 100%compatible writer)
READ
subchannel data from data ON
subchannel data from audio ON
ALL THE REST OFF
WRITE
don't repair subchannel data ON
always close ON
ALL THE REST OFF (if you got b/proof put that ON)
write mode RAW DAO
(psx games never have erorrs)

As Backitup said, everything I told you is the same when you load up the "Protcd" configuration from CloneCD. The only thing diffrent from what I told you and Backitup was in the READ section, when you load the protcd profile, it also checks off:
#1 Fast Error Skip - If this box is checked, error correction of the CD reader will be disabled during read. CloneCD will use the "Power of your PC" to correct read errors. This option may speed up reading with some CD readers. You have to try, if your drive reads faster, if this option is checked.

#2 Intelligent Bad Sector Scan - If this box is checked, CloneCD will perform an intelligent bad sector scan. The bad sector scan boosts the read speed of certain titles, but may cause the copy not to work.

*both may help if you don't have a drive that supports Burn Proof. Also you should not have any trouble unless your original is pretty beat up. Then I'd suggest you make an image file if your drive does not have Burn Proof.

Use as you wish, and the above is a direct copy off of CloneCD's help menu. I've used these settings since I started using CloneCD a couple years ago for PC stuff, and have not burnt a coaster with them yet. Again, these are the settings that Elaborate Bytes uses for their ProtCD configuration. It's also good to see that we have experianced users whom can show us how to setup the software better then the programmers. In the end, both will work, and you can now make a better decision on how you wish to make your backups. Also, the documentation with the software is pretty basic, but it is still quite good. You'll find if you read it, you will understand whats going on, and should should things not go right. Then hopefully you will be able to figure it out. Which will add less stress to your life..

but if you check fast skip errors and the games is damage in someway (if the disc is dirty or scratched) it will make a copy which will NOT work properly (like a said psx games NEVER have errors on them so why check it)

Backitup is RIGHT and Drizzt is WRONG. You can't let the PC deal with bad sectors (which there shouldn't be) because the sub-code area is used for copy protection and not for error correction.

Backitup forgot to add that on reading, you should set "ABORT ON READ ERROR" otherwise if you do have a bad sector, you'll get junk.

Best to use CLONYXL to set up CloneCD. Tutorials for both on ####://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk
