Music doesn't work need help

When I try to play any of my backups like ddr5th mix or ddr4th mix it doesn't work correctly. I start it up, get into it a song, start playing and all of a sudden the song starts to studder and the music stops for a couple of seconds while the game is still going but the rest of the game is just fine just any kind of music or video it will happen in. I had a friend that said it might be the laser in my playstation because my playstation is so old. If anyone has any ideas of what might be the problem that would be great.

What I burn psx games and use:
Plextor 12/10/32a
DiscJuggler v3.50.800-FTU
Verbatim DataLifePlus 80min 1-24x super AZO CDRS
Playstation model #SCPH-1001
Power Replay External Mod-Chip or I use boot replay
and I don't think these things matter but I will put them here anyway
1.33ghz athlon w/geforce 3
ddr dx pads

Hate to say this, but I would suggest your model Playstation is well past its throw away date.
