Hi,
I tend to use Verbatim CDRS because of there Dark blue layer, the PS2 and PS1 lasers pick them up so well. Theres nothing wrong with the media you have but if see some verbatims get some you wont be disapointed. Also i use CLONE CD for all my PS1 and PS2 backups, but not all writers are compatible so check to see if yours is. CDR-Win is also very good for backups, so its really down to what you like. As for burn speed i write a 4 X speed but others burn at full speed depending on there writers speed ofcourse, once again its down to what you feel comftable with. you can download trail versions of both the software i have mentioned about and for great tutorials on how to use them properly, check out Deanos site www.psxcopyworld.co.uk Goodluck, any problems drop another post Cheers Dal |

this is my first post in a long time
you guys changed the forums a bit but it's nice i remember posting something like this about a page long on all the variables you have to look at here we go again 1. cdrs: the best is really up to your playstation to decide. a lot of the times the lasers are very picky when it comes to cds. there is a little dial in your playstation that you can turn to adjust the power of the laser to read cheap cdrs, but it burns out the laser faster (not a good idea). cdrw's are a definite no-no. i personally use verbatim and sony (sony for sony products) maxells are good too. stay clear of cheap cdr's like memorex. they fall apart really easy and are shit to begin with. 2. program: this one is up to you, clonecd, nero and cdrwin work great with no problems. i personally use cdrwin because of it's ability to patch games that have modchip protection on them 3. speed of reading/writing: this one is up to you and mainly your ps. the reason is the faster you read and write the chance of getting video skips and audio skips and game freezes becomes higher. the ps cd-rom is only a 2x so if you like to burn psxgames at 24x the chances of getting a smooth perfect burn are slim to none. again i read at 4x and burn at 2x. sometimes that isn't good enough so i go 1x/1x. this is for a perfect copy, but SLOW AS HELL. 4. the burner you have: right now i guess it really doesn't matter because of the nice burner selection we have now. they had some really crappy ones before from creative and other no-names. i have a plextor 16x/10x/40xA and it works great i also have a sony crx-120 which is a 4x/4x/24x and this works great as well. so the only advice i can really give you is play around with different settings and find the best combination for your ps it's the only way to do it because everyone has a different setup that works for them and might for other people but it's always good to experiment hope i helped a little |

your writer will may have prob burning back games phillips writers and phillips based writers have probs with psx games but there is away around it you may have to use cdrwin to read the games and fireburner to write it back (i think thats the way) as for cdr's uses the best makes like sony & tkd's but its up to you what you like as for the speed read x4 write x2-x4.
someone as posted the way how to get around the phillips writer before it maybe along time ago |

it doesnt really matter which speed you write at its really the program. when i burn at 4x with cdrwin i get perfect coasters! and my burner is an 8x speed. but if i use blindwrite i can use the cheapest cds and burn at 8x speed and the game always comes out fine. blindwrite and clone are the best programs to use. you can also patch with blindread and write, but you chane the file output to "iso".

burn with this
I have a LG 12-8-32. I fine it can do everything except burnproof. I use clonecd(2.8.4.3) for all cd copies. (settings are - read subchannel data for data and audio{both} fast error skip, intelligent bad sector scanner.{all on}, don't repair subchannel data, always close last session.) I can burn any cd. even protected computer games. But use cdrwin for protected games like everybody says you should use. Haven't had any success with protected games. I have a collection of 20 coasters. But for all other games I can read at 32x and burn at 4x. this gives me a good copy, but not perfect. I copied star trek invasion onece at full speed and had problems. then tried again at 4x and the video skipped. then again at 2x, then it played ok. so the slower the better. Just don't rent a dozen games in one night. You'll be up all night burning. hope any of this helps anyone. email me if you need the clonecd program and crack. admiral_thom###n********com
