PS1 games on PS2 problem

Following the other questions about the trouble of some ps1 games not working on a ps2. I was wondering if one of the ps1 boot discs will make them work on a ps2 after being booted itself with AR2/Extreme FM disc. If so it would save me a hell of a lot of time and blank discs patching the games which dont work.
