Backups won't work on PS2, whats the Deal?

Hi, I burned a game for the PS2, and it was a .bin, so I guess it wasn't self boot. I have experiance with the DC, but Im new the PS2, I guess it is pretty much the same thing, except for one problem. The backup didn't work. I heard somewere that you have to open up your PS2 and change some small things in order to make it work with backups. Is this true??? Please someone help me out, thanks

yes you need a mod chip or neo key if you do a search keyword: WARLOCK he is the best man for ps2
