Info. about Playstation 9002?
I am getting a great deal on a second-hand Playstation 9002. What are its limitations and what to look out while purchasing a Second-hand Playstation? Links are welcome!

Basically look at the general condition, and whether it is been constantly used. This could lead to a worn lazer. To ##### the lazer wobble the plastic moulding holding the lens, if it wobbles all over the place you could be in trouble later. Also listen to the psx when it boots a game, if you hear a warbling sound this indicates wear on the lazer. It should be quiet when reading the disks.
You ought to be quite safe with a 9002 since this was the last one made. |

Be carefull it may be cheap for a reason!
The condition of the outside of the unit can tell a lot of stories if its dirty, grubby or covered in scratches then its had a lot of use and you may expect some future probs. The black laser assembly will have some movement because its seated on 3 rubber bountings, and the laser lens its self will have a little movement aswell. The best thing as Toaster mentioned is to listen carefully to the boot sequence which should be realy quiet and ##### a couple of games to see what the FMV sequences are like, any skipping and this could point to a laser problem, but this can be cleared up with a minor adjustment. After all, all moving parts take time to bed in and thats why you have points to make adjustments! ##### that everything works, i.e. both controlers preferable the dual shock type, memory card slots etc as these are all governed by separate internal fuses. If there is a problem then it should soon show it self!
