help with ps1

When I try to copy a patched game with cdr-win I get an error when it gets ready to write to cd. The error is " start DAO recording command failed on device 1:0:0 unable to set writing mode. Help me with this if you can. It drives me crazy.

hmm i had the same problem
try deselecting raw mode burn
in the burn window where you select
the bin/cue file

if you still have problems
buy your self a copy of clone cd
if your burner is compatable with it
it will copy almost any cd out there
with no problems. i switched
to it a while ago.

cd clone will copy mod protected games but there is 1 prob it copies the mod protection so the games will NOT play anyway the ONLY way round a mod protected games is with a patch

CLONECD WILL COPY PROTECTED GAMES AND THEY WILL WORK . U THEREFORE BECAUSE IT MAKES A "PERFECT CLONE" HAVE TO COPY THE BACKUP THRU CLONE AGAIN FOR ANY FUTURE COPIES THAT YOU MAY REQUIRE ALTHOUGH YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO DO THAT WOULD YOU .

geez i am so confused about clone. some say it will work with protected games and some say it will not play them because it makes a perfect copy, therefore coping the protection to and it will not work...

Anti mod chip protection detects the mod chip in the PSX and shuts down the game, even the original game will not play in a modded PSX if it has this protection. Clone cd will copy this protection making the backup game detect the mod chip also causing it to shutdown. The only way to fix this is to patch the game using cdrwin and ppf-o-matic. To find out if the game you want to copy has anti mod protection simply put the original game in the [modded] PSX .If it starts and plays correctly then the backup should be fine. If you are serious about backing up your PSX,PS2 games then clone cd, cdrwin and ppf-o-matic are 3 must have programs. Good luck.

i backedup crash bash with clone with no patch but clone has to be 100% compatable with your burner maybe it was a fluke i don't know but it works,

warlock, correct me if i am wrong, you say that clone will copy the anti-mod and will fail on the copy and original. if this is true, then copying it with cdrwin will work because it cant read subchannel data and the protection will be missing!!!

Anti-mod protection isn't sub channel data, Cdrwin, nero, clone cd even adaptec easy cd creator can copy it, Patching it is the only way around this type of protection. The utopia boot cd will work on some games but not all.

I just wonder,is FF9 mod-protected.i know its protected but how?
Warlock you say that you have to patch the games that are protected, its not true.If your burner is able to read subchannel data and that stuff than you dont need a patch.
I've played through my FF9 without any patch, cause there is no and I used CloneCD.I got SONY crx145r 10x4x32x and it works fine.So you people out there find out if your burner/writer is able to read and not fix subchannel data than you dont need to patch any game.

Niggah you are an idiot!
Read before opening your mouth!
Warlock stated quite clearly that Anti-mod chip games CANNOT be copied by Clone and be expected to work.
The other types of protection, like the one used for FF9, can be copied successfully with CloneCD.
WE ALL KNOW THIS AND ARE SICK OF REPEATING THIS FACT TO IDIOTS WHO WILL NOT READ THE OTHER POSTS!

whew! Thanks for all the help. My experience is that if it is mod protected, then I have to use cdrwin with a patch. I dont even know the posts that I have read that still insist that clone will work and that is just not what I have found to be true.

Ok folks,, To clarify.. CLONECD WILL make a good backup for games that are not modchip protected.. Just always read subchannel audio and Read subchannel data.. (just to make sure) Clone cd will tell you if your burner has these capabilities if you click DISK INFO or READER INFO or whatever.) if it says (NO next to reads subchannel data then your screwed.) Use something else.. Anything.. I've used every program out there to burn psx games and I have over 85 of them so I know for a fact that they do.. Any game that is MODCHIP PROTECTED, you MUST use a patch. There is only 1 way around. You can use the Gameshark CD (or regular gameshark from store). Just go to ~####://cmgsccc.com/psx/ to get the codes and get the gameshark cd at megagames under PSX UTILITIES.. There is one game that doesn't have a patch for it yet,,,"NHL FACEOFF 2001" (FOR NTSC) that is modchip protected.>>Being that there is no patch I thought I was ####ed.. WRONG>> I used the Gameshark CD and entered the Correct code for it and it boots like a charm.. That code is found at the above website (minus the ~)..That's the only way I know of that you can get around a NON PATCHED Game..Otherwise you HAVE to patch if one is available of course.. You can use Clonecd to patch it with as well as the more popular CDRWIn. You just browse to the IMAGE file CLone creates instead of .BIN that CDRWIN creates.. Clone creates a IMAGE file,a .ccd file, and a .img file.. The IMAGE file is the one you want to patch.. It says it doesn't match file sizes but I patched GAMEDAY 2001 this way just fine.. I couldn't get CDRWIN to patch it correctly for some reason, tried clone and it works fine. If you get errors burning with CDRWIN, USE FIREBURNER found at ~####://www.elaboratebytes.com to burn your .BIN and .cue file back to disk..How is explained in severl other posts on this board I've made.. But just make sure you always download the RIGHT patch.. NTSC for US versions and PAL for Europe and JAP for japanese.. And the gameshark cd is one you all should have just to have.. Cuz sometimes there just ain't no patch fo ya.. And just to verify, if you play a modchip protected game and are using the ORIGINAL disk IT WILL PLAY JUST FINE.. If it doesn't you need to hold down RESET for 3 seconds and the modchip will be bypassed and it will load fine.. As for 1 to 1 copies,, if they didn't all make 1 to 1 copies then the shit wouldn't work... That's just a slogan to get people to buy there shit.. Nero,EZ CD,CDRWIn, all of them make 1 to 1 copies as if they didn't we wouldn't even have this forum to talk about how to back up a cd..
Also,,calling people names isn't very much support for a forum that is trying to support and help others.. leading them in the right direction is all that needs to be done.. But I must say the post did not make one bit of sence.. If your game doesn't require a patch then yes, clonecd will burn it just fine. and so will the other programs.. But not everyone is from the same place so a game in the US may not need a patch but someone in Europe may need one.. so keep that in mind.. A good tool also found at elaboratebytes is CLONECD Database.. It has settings for any previously backed up disks that other people had success using with CLoneCD.. So use the settings they did and you'll be just fine.. Well,, if theres' any more questions i'd be glad to help and i promise not to call you an idiot as most of us didn't know what the hell we were doing when we started so just take yourself back to the day you tried this shit and remember the dificulties...
