Game protections!?!?!? I'm lost! PLZ HELP!

Hi!

Reading 100's of past threads on protected games like FF9 and others have brought me nuts!

Can any1 xplain me in flat words and easy sentences (I'm Forrest, Forrest Guuuuuuuuuuump) which and how many kinda protections are we talking about and in which conditions they'll apply or not?

Looks like NEW games like FF9 won't work UNLESS:

1) you got a chip-mod'ed PS AND the patch to f*ck up the protection
OR
2) you got a non chip-mod'ed PS AND CloneCD + compatible writer

RIGHT???

RIGHT!...... Well in a word NO!

All PSX's have to be moded to run backups, even if your burner is 100% compatable with CloneCD!

Generaly two types of protection although they have moved on through a couple of generations.

1, Copyright Protection (libcrypt). Copyable with CloneCD or defeated with a protection patch/fix. (Your burner must be 100% compatable with CloneCD).

2, Anti Mod Chip Protection. You WILL always need a patch to overcome this one regardless of CloneCD's compatabilty. (I wont go into the reasons why cos i just typed it out in a reply to another post)
