Help this newbie please..

Hello, I am new to making PS2 backups can you advise on the following please.
What software do you recommend to use to make the backups?
How do impliment a patch into the image/backup or will the software do it?
How do I rip a game?
NOTE: I am a newbie to this and not quite sure how to make backups thanks for your time.

Read the library. It has lots of good info there for a few minutes of your time.
