Neo 2 not working at all?
I've finally got the tray on my ps2 working, but i've been unable to run any backups at all. Original PSX and PS2 games and DVDs work fine. PAL & NTSC PSX games do not run. Additionally, if i turn off the ps2 then turn it on and hold down reset for ~8 secs, the tray does not pop out. I am a bit hampered because the AR2 that playstationmods.com sent me doesn't seem to work (the dongle isn't recognised by the software) so i can't test PS2 backups.
So is my Neo 2 not working or can i do more tests? Regards, Stuart |

I'm not sure for this on the NEO2, OK try holding down the reset power button for ten seconds. If your cd tray ejects then the chip is installed properlly. If you are using a Gs2 to play PS2 backups and do the swap within 4 seconds then maybe your chip is bad. What version of PS2 do you have?

I have a 30002, i bought it the day the PS2 was released here in Australia. The mod was done by a good engineer who knows nothing about PS2's. As i mentioned, i've already tried the holding down reset test and it failed. Additionally, i can't test the AR2 method because the AR2 cartridge doesn't work and playstationmods.com are kindly not answering my email (actually they've only ever responded to 1 of the 5 emails i've sent them).
Assuming it is a "bad install", what are the things that can go bad. I guess the chip could be dodgy, but the connections themselves are good. Anything else? Regards, Stuart |
