Backup PSX Games?

I cannot backup PSX games. I can backup PS2 games with no problem. Iam using CDRwin 3.8d full version. It creates the CD with no errors, but it will not work in my playstation. The mod chip works and it sees the CD as a PSX game, but when I select the CD it does nothing. The procedure Iam using my be incorrect for CDRwin for PSX games. The procedures I used are posted on the web, but it appears to be a different version of CDRwin. Please reply with any ideas, suggestions or comments.
