Help with burning & with PPF/Swap patch

Question 1: I have burned PSX's on 80 minute CD's and some have worked and some have not. Should 80 Min. CD's be avoided? I'm not sure if its the CD causing problems or something else.

Question 2:Recently Dl'd a game that had the Swap patch for the Jap (using util disk) and Usa (using Ut) included. (I have a modchipped Psx). Do I apply any of these patches or not? And if so which one? I made a coaster by applying the Usa one and burning on an 80 minute CD. Not sure if my mistake was applying the patch or using the 80 min cd.
If someone could explain about these swap patches, would be appreciated.

There is no need to ever use an 80 min cd, so avoid them. This is the first thing you should do to try and fix you're problem.
