ps2 cd tray

I checked pins 5 + 6 and the connections are fine, the wires going back to the chip have not shorted on the metal frame.I removed the chip but it still has the same problem of the cd tray opening to fast and will not close without pushing it closed. Could i have damaged something when i installed the chip, and if so where can i get it repaired in the Toronto area.
