Pure newbie!!!

Im very new to this. At least for the PS2.

All I want to do is create backup copies for my ps2 games. I managed it fine for the pc but cannot workout what I have to do for creating ones of my ps2 games.

I understand the modchip bit but I dont want to risk wrecking my ps2 by opening it up. Is there any way to create a backup copy and get it to boot without throwing the console on the operating table? I suppose Im afte a 1-1 cd copy patch. Does this exist????

I have a PAL ps2. Im unsure what version it is and cannot find out untill I go home.
