help , parasite eve 2

I am trying to backup parasite eve 2 , I Know i need to patch it , but for some reason when I am reading the disk using CDRWIN the program hangs up when the copying gets to 83% . has anyone else had this problem , or is it a problem with my original disk . I have set the 'read ready count' to 50 on CDRWIN, but when the extraction gets to 83% and it errors 22 times my system locks up and I have to end task to stop it.

Have you got anything running in the background. You only need systray and explorer running. Try also reading it in the burner or the cdrom drive.
It may then be the original thats knackered ofcourse.

BOT is on a distinguished road
Error recovery should be set to 0, read retry should be set to 0.
If the image extraction then aborts it is due to a bad source cd.
There should NEVER be any bad sectors on reading ANY psx game unless the cd is damaged.

If the source cd is bad then my cdrwin locks up as well.
If you are desperate to copy this cd try using blindread. You can down load this from psx utilities page at megagames. Blind read gives you the option of creating the disc image in several different formatts,so you can make a bin file apply the copy patch and burn with cdrwin.
For the error recovery setting in blind read try "nibble" setting first, if this does not work then try the multiple gaps setting.
If you have to use multiple gap setting it is very likely that the original is to badly damaged to make a workable copy, but you never know.
