problems with original PSX game on PS2

I rented anna kournikova tennis (PSX game) and stuck it in my PS2. It will not recognise the disc at all not even using ar2. The game does run on a psone, i've tried it. Anyone out there have a clue what's up with this one!

ORIGINAL PS1 GAMES (THIS IS HOW TO BOOT)
SWITCH ON PS2
INSERT ORIGINAL PS1 GAME
CLOSE DISK DRAW
PRESS RESET TO SWITCH OFF PS2
NOW PRESS RESET FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND UNTIL YOU SEE BLUE LIGHT COME ON THEN RELEASE YOUR FINGER OFF THE RESET BUTTON....
THIS DISABLES THE MOD CHIP ALOWING ORIGINAL PS1 GAMES TO BOOT...EASY...
GIVE IT A GO ...AND GOOD LUCK....
