PS1 mod chips

The strangest thing has happened to me.
I've just chipped a PS1 with a four wire mod chip.It plays all my backup cd's fine. No problem there,or at least so I thought.
When I tried to play an original game the damn thing would not recognize the cd. I've tried all the originall games that i have, and none of them work.,although they did before chipping.
How can that be. Any help greatfully received.

there is a new modchip out version 3 multimode wired as 6 wire
see link http://www.modchips-uk.com/
It is better for the ps1 (psone) If you still want to use your existing mod chip try wiring it as stealth mode ie connect on the extra wires and I would also recommend first trying to use the boot disk for the ps1. I cant find the link to it just now but e-mail me and I'll send it to you. (its very small file size)

Toaster thanks for your help. The link you gave me was most useful. It appears that the wiring diagram given to me initialy was incorrect. More like the stealth mode diagram with two wires missing. I rewired the chip as indicated for four wire chip on this site and all is well.
Thanks again
