I need To know all about Backups and Mod-Chips

where do I start? Well, I want to start backuping my huge collection of PSX games. I recently bought a Mod-Chip for my PS-7501 and my father and I decided it was to un-safe to DeSolder the metal shield (whiech you have to do with this 7-wire chips from Mod-chip.com). I was wondering if anyone knew.... 1-Where can I find how to install the chip in four-wire mode (mod-chip.com never told me) and 2- What are the chances of leaking solder on a vital part

Also what CD-Rs should I buy, what burner software is the BEST to use for this and how should I set the software up?

Well whether you wire the chip in Stealth mode (7 Wires) or in Normal mode (4 wires plus link) you will still need to remove the metal plate from the PSX motherboard, an 18WATT soldering iron is ok to do this but a bit slow at heating up those large connections, but dont be tempted to use a hotter soldering iron as you may end up burning a track off the board and then you would be in trouble. Dont worry about splashing solder anywhere this dos'nt happen or at least it has'nt happened to me yet.

The 4 wire plus link diagram is available at www.paulmax.eng.net and the best software to use is CDRWin which was written for the purpose. Setting are available on this site www.megagames.com.

If you have any other questions then check my profile for my email address and get in contact.

best CD-R discs are TDK cause they r as same as PS CDs.So with them u'll not need to wory to have those "errors" in every FMV-movie.
U can also use Verbatim CD-Rs, but u can't use CD-RW, remember that.Get your self an PPF-O-Matic at www.gamecopyworld.com

Happy burnin'

actually, the best cd-r's to use are the ones with black undersides. The only place i've found them though is an office supply store called Staples, and this is in the UK!!

BOT is on a distinguished road
Black cds are a gimmick, created for the gullible to waste their money on!
They are the worst and most unreliable to use.
