Playing FF9 with a Import Game Convertor

Unlike all you other guys who got a mod chip, I got a import game convertor (na na na nah nah) but my copied FF9 won't work.

As far as I know there's no protection on the discs. However I got the paradox FF9, where you can enable cheats and choose wether you wanna play it PAL or NTSC. When you press X to confirm the Square Soft screen comes, and then it get's stuck. Neone got that one too and had problems with it ?! Probably any patches for this "bug" ?! If neone had the same experience and got it fixed now, HELP ME OUT !! plz ?
