Plextor 8x 4x 32 drive and firmware quessy

Hi all,

I`m a bit of a newbie when it comes to CD "backing up" :-) and i have recently purchased the above drive. After burning a number of coasters from it (making an image in CDR Win then having patched the games using PPF-O-Matic) i am starting to regret buying it.

Does anyone think I should try and swap this drive with a Yamaha SCSI or a Plextor Burn Proof drive.

Also, (though I cant remember where I read it) does the firmware upgrade for the 8x4x32x have a detrimental effect of the success of backing up origial PSX games?

Thanks in advance peeps.

Hmm....Well I wouldn't recommend trading in that burner. You see I know you may find this hard to believe, but I was researching burners and Plextor burners are among the highest ranked burners around. I have a Plextor 12/4/32 and it works fine. It's really good for dc games, but anyway try using nero burning rom v 5.x.x.x. Look in the help file and it even has a section on how to burn psx games!
