rez dummy ?

hi everybody,
i'd like to burn rez from hooligans, but i heard in some mirc channels that the game needs to be dummied. The problem is that when I unrared it, I found a *.cdi file. And I don't know how I can dummy a cdi file. What should i do ? Maybe convert it to a *.bin so that I can dummy it and then make it self-boot.
But it seems to be a bit hard, so if u have solved that problem u might be able to help me, can u tell me exactly how i can solve that pb, giving me maximum of details since i've never dummied a game before.

Thank u for u're help

.CDI's typically never need to be dummied, unless they are small .CDIs, since Rez is a game, although never heard of it, it should not need to be dummied.

Only way you will know for sure is with trial and errror. Go ahead and burn it without dummying it.

Tank u Momo, I know that cdi files are usually already dummied. But this game is different, it really needs to be dummied, several people on mIRC burnt it, and realized that the game freezes at the last level. So some dummied it (don't know how) and it works. This games is so awful, u should try it.
Tanks anyway if u have any other idea plz tell me

Sonic Adventure 2 used to do the samething, freeze on the last stage, though the only thing that fixed it was a patch. A quick browse of the patches on the main page, turned up nothing. Sounds more like a bug in the original rip of the game rather than a file size issue. Dummying a .BIN or .ISO supposedly improved load times, that's all. Never heard of it curing problems such as lock ups.

NONEHTHELESS, HOW DO YOU DUMMY A CDI FILE. SOME WITH CDIRIP GIVE YOU A SINGLE BIN / CUE FILE, AND THEN ITS EASY. HOWEVER, SOMETIMES, I GET A COUPLE OF BIN / CUE FILES, OR EVEN A BIN / CUE FILES AND A BUNCH OF AUDIO TRACKS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, WHAT CAN I DO ????? SMALL CDI FILES THAT GIVE ME THESE PROBLEMS ARE AIR FORCE DELTA, VIRTUA ATHLETE, MR DRILLER ETC ETC. PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I HAVE NEVER MANAGED TO GET AN ANSWER ANYWHERE ON THE NET.

I used the Echelon selfboot tutorial method to add the dummy file.

Basically it went like this.

I burned the original Rez CDI (the one that freezes after the last boss).

I then put all of the Echelon selfboot tutorial files in C:\selfboot
Then, in Windows explorer, copied all of the files on the burned Rez CD to c:\selfboot\data

The tutorial should tell you the rest.
Also, I used dummyfile.exe to add a 250 meg dummy.

The echelon selfboot tutorial files can be found in the Automated Echelon Selfboot Tutorial file at www.dccopyworld.com

As for the actual tutorial, I don't know where you can get that. Do a search for it. :>
