You cant, not unless you re-encode them into MPEG-1 files. If you wanna play them on the dreamcast that is.

Its not as easy as people think. You first have to conver the AVI to MPG (as MP said). Sounds easy? No way. You have to decode/encode it with a third party proggie.. Most people use TMPG. You can check out www.vcdhelp.com.. They give you step by step instructions.
Last time I made a VCD I was running a 433 mhz PC w/ 256 MB of RAM... It took about 8 hours to convert an AVI to VCD/MPG/DVD compatability...

hi,
look at http://www.divx-digest.com there many tutors maybe you found what you want. and sixdsix is right, it could take many time to decode/encode it. on my 1,4GHz Athlon an full dvd (120 minutes) to DivX encoding takes 3 hours, on my older 500 MHz Athlon 10 hours!
