do back-ups hurt the DC system?

Hi
I heard some guys that using back-up CDR games on your dreamcast will cause your system to break down.
is it true?
thanks

actually it is. since the dc has to spin a cdr-game twice as fast to play it like a gd rom which will inturn double the wear on you dc motor causeing it to kick the bucket allot sooner. there have also been reports of people's DC's locking up even on non-burned games. I'm all for back-ups and when mine breaks, i'll just get another one.

Resets were not the problom. but i can tell you can't read to well. its lock-ups and i said that it wears the motor faster playing burnt games i said nothing about load time who knows where you got that from. can u read invisible words?, as for that guide who do you think is actually gonna risk all that for a dreamcast besides a couple or idiots or real people who are educated in the electrical field

tip, next time read the post instead of corecting me on something that i didn't post

well i'll state AGAIN! resets were not the problem lock-ups were! Its not that what you said isn't true, don't get me wrong but no one posted that thier DC was screwed up or had reseting problems so why post about those problems. seems irrelevent don't you think. Plus i understand that gd roms are harder no read but that doesn't change the fact that cdr's still have to spin faster to play causeing more wear on the motor. If you can point me to where you can buy a DC motor i'd be happy. Please, don't go getting all ****y i was just stating facts and do not wish to battle with people on this forum. you help people with it, ON THE POSTED TOPIC MAY I ADD.Not something completely irrelevent

How about a whole GD-ROM unit, or just the GD-ROM laser assy...

Here's a link I think you'll find informative: ####://www3.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/d-main.htm

i'm not the one who flew off the handle and ####ted swearing. and he asked if playing cdr games caused DC break down right?read my first post agian and you'll see what i mean. those things are the only evidence of problems caused by playing cdr-s so far (that i know of. if you know more please tell me). I think the post that talked about lockups had to do with sonic 2 and people who played it ####ted havinging game freezes. anyhow i'm not gonna argue with this one any more so peace out

Thanks for links :}
